Login failed for user 'username' using MS SQL Server 2005

The error message in full is:

Login failed for user 'username'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

The cause of this issue is MS SQL Server 2005 operating only in Windows Authentication mode, while the user provided is a SQL Server user.

To change this, go to Server Properties, Security and check the "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode" radio button.

For more information, refer to this page.

Cannot open database "database_name" requested by the login. The login failed.

This happens when the user provided during login does not have permission to access the named database.

In the SQL Server Management Studio, modify the user by going to its Properties page, select "User Mapping" and assign the database to that user. You should also check the role db_owner.

JDBC driver files cannot be found (com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver). Please add the JDBC driver library/files to the Java classpath or disable the SQL module.

The JDBC library is missing or not specified during runtime.

Solution
- Download the latest MS SQL JDBC from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... laylang=en extract the Type 4 JDBC JAR file (sqljdbc4.jar) and save it in chatblazer8/server/lib folder
- If you are running startsvr.bat on Windows, open it in a text editor and look for the following line:
rem set CBE_CP=%CBE_CP%;lib\sqljdbc.jar
remove rem and modify the filename of the JDBC to the one which you have downloaded.

SEVERE: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6 is not supported by this driver. Use the sqljdbc4.jar class library, which provides support for JDBC 4.0.

The JDBC library is not supported for Java 6.

Solution
- Copy sqljdbc4.jar from the JDBC package downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a737000d-68d0-4531-b65d-da0f2a735707&displaylang=en and save it in chatblazer8/server/lib folder
- remove sqljdbc.jar from chatblazer8/server/lib folder
- If you are running startsvr.bat on Windows, open it in a text editor and look for the following line:
set CBE_CP=%CBE_CP%;lib\sqljdbc.jar
modify the filename of the JDBC to sqljdbc4.jar.
